antique original WWII USGI medical tool part of a antique medical diagnostic device Marked ‘ NATIONAL ELECTRIC INSTR CO INC L L NY USA ‘ ITS about 3 1/2 inches long made of Bakelite or plastic Just the ‘ head ‘ Or working end of a light emitting diagnostic scope - ( I don’t know if it was battery powered or AC current ) it has refraction lens and a dial face designed to show what degree or angle the device is being held - circa 1942- 1945 made by the National Electric Instrument Co., N.Y. This is likely a component from a USMD medical ‘ Body Cavity Illuminator set ‘ that was used to inspect internal wounds , these were commonly used in the field hospitals an hospital ships in both the ETO and PTO during the war it came from a large collection of World War Two medical related gear DONT PASS IT UP - The last of a grouping of original wold war era surgical equipment that I picked up many years ago - there can’t be many of these on the loose today At any price !
